a car.
Moonlight Mountain House is tucked into the mountains above Margaretville. The final miles are part of the transition: fewer lights, more trees, and eventually no cell signal at all.
Drive north into the Western Catskills. Traffic and weather can add time, especially on Friday afternoons and winter weekends.
Albany is about 90 minutes away and Newark is about 2 hours away, making both practical options for guests arriving by air. A rental car is necessary from either airport.
There is no practical way to enjoy the house and surrounding towns without a vehicle. In winter, AWD is required.
Cell service disappears near the house. Turn on Wi-Fi calling and save or screenshot your check-in instructions before you leave reliable service.
